Adding the Ring Code using Page Elements

Navigate to Page Elements

Open your Blogger Dashboard...click on the Template tab...it should open into the Page Elements tab - if not, click on that tab.

You then will have a bunch of 'squares' showing for lack of a better word . . .

Add the Ring Code

Locate where your sidebar is...there should be a link called "Add Page Element' above your 'About Me' or whatever is first in your sidebar. Click that link.

When it opens up the selection panel, pick 'HTML/JavaScript' from the available types.

When that box opens, paste the ring code into the bottom box (leave the top one blank) and click the 'Save Changes' button...now...it has an odd habit of putting the new element right there on the top of the stack. Click on the element and drag it down in the list until its where you want it...then,

Click on the 'Save' button on the top line.

Joining the Ring

Here's how the process works.

You click the join link and complete the RingSurf form--it will ask for your name, email, the name of your web site or blog and its URL, and for a description (which appears in the ring list). It will also ask you to create a password (in case you want to update any of the info later).
RingSurf auto-magically sends you email with a confirmation of your request and the ring code you must add to your site or blog. Ringsurf also emails me letting me know someone has joined the ring.
You add the ring code to your website or blog.
I use a tool on RingSurf that checks to see if the ring code is on your site or blog and, if it is, I move you to the members list.

It takes a little bit of time (and it doesn't all happen auto-magically), but it's pretty easy ... and won't it be fun to click through the sites of everyone we've come to know on the Quilting forum?

Do we need a ring?

It seems you can't ask the question until you have a ring ready to go ... but it seems silly to build it unless you know they will come ...
